Dear Debi,
I've been on your son's beautiful site. It's amazing, the pictures are beautiful. My condolences to you and your family. Reading all these sad stories helps me realize i'm not alone. I really thought I was, I felt as if the whole world went on except for me. My youngest son, Denis Ryan Mulkern was tragically
killed on July 4th, 2008. I always worried when my boys were out late, scared to death something would happen to one of them. I never expected anything to happen on a bright, warm sunny holiday at 3pm. I had just talked to Denis at 1pm to see what his plans were for the day (i was at work).
Even tho he was 20 I always kept tabs on him. Him and his friends had just got to a friends house,
they were gonna cook out and swim. A friend pulled up on a Suzuki motorcycle (Denis had his permit and had a Harley for a short time). Denis took it for a quick ride up the street and back. He lost control and clipped a curb which launched him and the bike into a small stone wall and mailbox. He died instantly on the street in front of his 3 best friends. The worst day of my life.
No drugs or alcohol involved.....Thank God.
Its coming up on 1 year, I can't get it out of my mind. Thru this website and reading other stories I no longer feel so alone. I need to talk to others who understand my pain and loss.

LET ME START BY SAYING "YOU HAVE A BEAUTIFUL FAMILY". YES, I BELIEVE YOUR RIGHT, YOUR ANDREW IS ALOT LIKE MY JOSHUA. HE LOVED BASEBALL, NASCAR, BEING WITH FRIENDS AND ANYTHING ADVENTUROUS. I BET THEY HAVE BECOME GOOD FRIENDS. JOSHUA WAS MY OLDEST, I HAD ANOTHER SON "JAMIE" WHO DIED AT BIRTH SEVERAL YEARS AGO. JOSHUA WAS MY WORLD AS HE WAS MY ONLY LIVING CHILD. I MISS HIM SO MUCH.
IT'S BEEN 3 YEARS AND I STILL CAN'T FIND ANY ANSWERS. MAYBE I NEVER WILL, AT LEAST NOT HERE, NOT NOW. WE WERE SO CLOSE THAT I THOUGHT HE COULD TELL ME ANYTHING. I FEEL GUILTY NOT KNOWING THERE WAS SOMETHING WRONG. I AM HIS MOTHER, I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN.
THE WORST PART IS THAT I FEEL THAT PEOPLE ARE BEGINNING TO FORGET HIM. NO ONE WANTS TO TALK ABOUT HIM ANYMORE AND THATS ALL I WANT TO DO. MAYBE THATS THE WAY IT'S SUPPOSE TO BE, I DON'T KNOW.
IF IT WASN'T FOR THE PEOPLE ON THIS SITE, I WOULD GO CRAZY. I KNOW THEY WON'T FORGET. AS YOU SAID, " UNLESS THEY HAVE LOST A CHILD, THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT IT'S LIKE ".
THANK YOU FOR LIGHTING A CANDLE FOR MY BABIES. I'M SORRY TO UNLOAD ON YOU LIKE THIS BUT, IT DOES HELP TO TALK ABOUT IT.
I WILL BE KEEPING ANDREW AND YOUR FAMILY IN MY PRAYERS.

I came across this site strictly by accident...but now it has changed my life instantly. I have a teenager who is about to turn 16..I fear the idea of her driving a car, not just for her safety but for the safety of everyone else on the road. I have sat and thought all morning about how it must feel for you and your entire family and friends to have lost such a wonderful and handsome young man. I cannot even imagine. Your website has helped me to appreciate my own children even more...and life in general!! Thank you for sharing his life with all of us!
